The Junior High Cross Country team had a great finish to their season. Nearly every runner had their best time of the year for this 2 mile race! A huge shout out to all of the 7th graders trying cross country out and another shout out to Owen and Sam for their growth from last season!

🚀 Our high schoolers are crushing it in class today! 🔦
We challenged our Introduction to Business students with the Torch Factory Simulation, (assembling model flashlights), and they are stepping up to master some major real-world project management skills!
Instead of just reading about business processes, these students are hands-on, combining Lean manufacturing concepts with Agile Scrum principles in real time:
🏃♂️ Sprinting to Success: Students are working through high-pressure, 10-minute assembly "Sprints" to build their products.
🔄 Meaningful Retrospectives: Between each round, teams are huddling up to reflect, troubleshoot, and implement immediate process improvements for the next Sprint.
📋 Mastering Process Flow: They are learning exactly how to use Kanban to control their work-in-progress and keep their assembly line flowing smoothly.
🤝 Next-Level Teamwork: Operating in highly collaborative teams, they are applying 5S workplace organization and proving that continuous improvement is a team sport.

The Junior/ Senior High students participated in the Iowa's Healthiest State Walk. The walk encourages students, staff, and families to walk to boost physical and mental health!
Congratulations to Quinn Hoksbergen on auditioning and getting accepted into the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association (SCIBA) Honor Band! Quinn is one of only twelve 8th grade students accepted to play alto saxophone out of over 70 eligible schools in the South Central district. We could not be more proud of all of the hard work she put in to prepare for her first audition and are so excited to have her represent East Marshall at this event!
The SCIBA Middle School Honor Band Festival is an all day festival where three bands, each comprising roughly one-hundred 7th or 8th grade students, rehearse all day and perform in the evening. 7th grade students are accepted by nomination, while 8th grade students audition by memorizing scales and preparing a selected etude. The concerts will take place on Tuesday, November 10th at Ankeny Centennial High School. Times of the performances will be announced.
